What is the Summer of Love?
The Summer of Love is a peace gathering that was conducted in 1967. This gathering was created for and around the counterculture movement.
Notable Preformances.
Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Santana, Family Stone, and Sly, are the most notable musicians who preformed. Beatnick poets performed Hindu chants, and famous American Psychologist, Timothy Leary promoted psychedelics.
Art Nouveau.
Art Nouveau is an art trend/fascination that originated in the 1800s. This same idea was resurfaced and mixed with psychedelic colors to create art and fashions inspired by the spirit of the times..
Relevancy in Fashion.
During the counterculture movement; art nouveau wasn’t the only old-style concept that resurfaced to be reinvented. A lot of the Edwardian silhouettes reemerged as well. These same silhouettes are being resurfaced back into popularity once more.
